Guitarist~Author~Educator

  • Richard Medel was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.  He had a varied performing career that has included stints in Canada, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the continental U.S. having played along many well know stars.
  • Medel left touring to return to school after having received a full ride scholarship in classical guitar to the Sherwood Conservatory of Music. After completing his Freshman year, he was asked to join the prestigious guitar department as an Adjunct Professor and continued to teach both Classical and Jazz for 8 ½ years.
  • He moved to Florida about 30 years ago and entered into the computer industry and is now CEO/President at Virtual IT Security, a Cybersecurity Company.
  • While versed in traditional jazz, classical guitar (bebop and post-bop), Medel draws from a variety of American music forms such as jazz fusion, funk, soul, R&B and blues.
