• Biography - Richard Medel was born in Chicago Illinois.  He began touring extensively from an early age and later returned home after receiving a full scholarship in classical guitar at the Sherwood Conservatory of Music.  Medel studied with the great Richard Pick, DePaul University.
  • After completing his freshman year, Medel was asked to join the guitar faculty as an adjunct professor where he continued to teach both Jazz and Classical guitar for 8 1/2 before moving to Florida.  Medel was also a studio guitarist a Paramount studios .
  • Rhapsodic Theory - While well versed in traditional jazz, classical guitar (bebop and post-bop), Medel draws from a variety of American music forms such as jazz fusion, funk, soul, R&B and blues.  You can hear his R&B modern influences on his Tribute to George Benson playing "Affirmation" and "Breezin" below.  His traditional Jazz and Classical influence can be heard on "They Can't Take Away From Me", "Somwhere Over the Rainbow" and jazz standards like  "There Will Be Another You".  Medel continues to perform in the South Florida  music scene.
