• Richard Medel is from Chicago Illinois.  He received a full scholarship in classical guitar to the Sherwood Conservatory of Music where he studied under Richard Pick.   During his Freshman year,  Medel was asked to join the guitar faculty as an adjunct professor where he continued to teach both Jazz and Classical guitar for 8 1/2 years before moving to Florida.  Medel toured extensively with many well-known stars and continues to perform in the Florida music scene.  
  • Rhapsodic Theory - While well versed in traditional jazz, classical guitar (bebop and post-bop), Medel draws from a variety of American music forms such as jazz fusion, funk, soul, R&B and blues
  • His traditional Jazz and Classical influences can be heard on "They Can't Take Away From Me", "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
  • His R&B roots can be heard on George Benson's Affirmation while his single line jazz improvisation can be heard on the jazz standard, There Will Never Be Another You.  Both live with his Jazz Quartet.
